Cross Pollination? Island Park, Wellsville, New York

I saw a couple of places where this had happened in the flower beds at Island Park: A bud on one lily was broken, and its pistil reached across to touch another flower. Apparently this is a successful strategy: The detail in the full-size image clearly shows pollen from the second flower on the extended stigma, the broken flower will be producing seeds in spite of having no stamen of its own.
